Cylinder Cap and Piston Seal Replacement:
If you are installing a bearing kit TGC25008CKBK &
TGC32508CKBK please disregard this section.
1. Disassemble the cylinder caps, remove the old seals from
the piston and caps, and clean all parts. Note: The piston
rod should not be disassembled from the piston because
the threads have a sealing adhesive in them. Inspect the
cylinder bore and piston for evidence of scoring. The light
scratch marks usually present on both the cylinder and
piston will generally have no detrimental effects on
performance of the cylinder.
2. Apply grease supplied to outside diameter of piston and
all grooves.
3. Install one of the piston seals into the groove nearest the
rod. The two lips of the seal should face toward the rod end
of the piston. See Figure 2.
4. Install wear ring to center groove. See Figure 2.
5. Lubricate inside of cylinder tube with grease and insert
piston and rod assembly into tube piston end first.
See Figure 3.
6. Slide piston and rod assembly through the cylinder tube
(piston end first) until the groove for the second is exposed.
See Figure 4. Be careful not to push the piston too far. If you
expose the wear strip and first piston seal you must push
the piston completely through and start this step over.
7. Install second piston seal into the exposed groove with
the two lips facing away from the rod end and pull the
piston into the cylinder tube.
8. Install both caps complete with O-rings to cylinder tube
and tighten screws.
